"The Kiss" was created between 1907 and 1908, during the "golden period" of Klimt, when the artist used gold leaf as a predominant element in his works. This helped to make the almost two-dimensional image.
The original painting represents the pinnacle of Klimt's Symbolist style. Klimt's painting style, in fact, becomes rich in symbols and areas of color.
